I'd recommend you first playing GW a while and then ask specific questions Just "tips" could be anything! You're better off if you just get to know the game a little for yourself.
A first general advice, though: Don't spend your attribute points (press k) on just any attribute. Focus on 2 or 3 (max) attributes and spend your points on these, that'll be more effective than splitting them too much. Also remember that you will choose a secondary profession sometime which will bring new attributes, so you might consider redistribute them as soon as you have a seconday profession. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me ingame! (Cyril Eventide) Although I have to admit that I'm mostly online in the evening (GMT).

Welcome & hope you have fun. The campaigns go (in order) Prophecies - Factions - Nightfall - (Eye of the North - Expansion) . So you're right to play Prophecies first although if you get stuck on it and decide to go to Factions or Nightfall midway you won't be penalised for it. Thats how I played the games

I agree with layarue. I havn't been playing this game for a long time, but the best thing is to learn by experience. You can have an absolutely terrible char and still get through the game (on Normal Mode at least, Hard Mode is a whole different ball-game) so it's best to just figure out what you enjoy instead of what is optimal. The ability to re-assign your attribute points means you can change builds at any point in time as long as you are able to get the skills to go along with it.

So just play the game, see what works for you, read up on guides and such to gain different perspectives on profs and builds, different strategies (with the versatility that a char has by switching profs there's a ton of different strategies) and just pick up some first-hand experience by trying things yourself. It's better than only knowing the theoretical info but still unsure when needing to apply it in real-time.

If you ever have any questions about the game give me a Private Message in game.
My In-Game name is Master Archer Nente.
Feel free to ask anything, although when you initially PM me please state that you're from guru and which thread etc.. because I tend to get confused when random people PM me.
